The IB fosters intercultural understanding and respect in students to help create a better, more peaceful world. Today, IB has 1.95 million students, 5,500 schools, and 160 countries in the world. The core of IB’s goals is international awareness, covering the 10 characteristics of inquirer, knowledgeable, thoughtful, communicative, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-taker, balanced, and reflective. The IB at each educational stage is divided into primary school to develop caring and culturally conscious children, secondary school to develop students’ confidence to manage their own learning, university preparatory education to build students’ intellectual curiosity and preparation for a meaningful life, and career education for the final school year. The skills, possessions and interests students need to prepare for the future. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the international development of IB. The content consists of five parts, namely, the introduction, the overview of the IB, the characteristics, standards and practices of the IB, international cases and conclusion.
