中文摘要 在臺灣推動雙語國家的路上,期待教育能發揮功能,讓學生都能成為雙語者。然而,國小、國中與高中等不同教育階段,其雙語教育之實踐會有何不同?卻是被忽略的議題,目前少有討論不同教育階段雙語實踐之研究。根據現場經驗與相關研究之發現,本文聚焦在公立國中階段,探討雙語教育在公立國中推動之挑戰,並具體說明英語教師在雙語教育實踐中應有之角色。同時,釐清雙語教育與英語教學之關係,從公立國中的情境出發,檢視目前政策與實踐之間的模糊地帶。期能透過本文之討論,提供有興趣推動雙語教育的學校以及政策制定者切實可行之策略參考。
英文摘要 The education system is expected to play a crucial role in making students bilingual by the latest policy on bilingual nation issues by the central government. However, there might be different practices of bilingual education in various education level such as primary, junior high and senior high. This issue, to a large extent, has been ignored in the discussion on promoting bilingual education. Based on school experience and the study of related research literature, this paper focuses on the practices in junior high school to explore the challenges and issues identified after various bilingual education policies have been implemented. Moreover, the role of English teachers that could play in the process of constructing bilingual schools is discussed with explicated strategies. The aim is to bridge the gap between policy and current implementation. The findings could offer insights to school and policy makers for further considerations.
