中文摘要 个人本位与社会本位之争,是现代教育目的论上的重要论题。处理这一论题时,如今的教育理论教科书多采取折中调和立场。与之不同,刘咸炘在继承中国传统思想的基础上,深入剖析了“个人主义”与“社会本位”二论之偏弊,创造性地提出了“个人本位的社会主义”之论断,堪称继往开来以创新中国教育理论之典范。“个人本位的社会主义”主张个人是无限时空关联中的一个点,纵向贯通祖先后代,横向连贯家国天下,因此教育要从个人的自我完善做起,以个人达于社会。“社会本位”和“个人主义”则割裂了人与社会的关系,此即个人本位和社会本位之争的根源所在,概念间的混淆也导致了当代个人本位和社会本位之争的偏谬,因此,教育目的的选择和确立当以“个人本位的社会主义”为准。
英文摘要 The dispute between individual-based orientation and society-based orientation is an important topic in the teleology of modern education. When dealing with this topic, the current educational theory textbooks mostly adopt the compromise position. In contrast, on the basis of inheriting traditional Chinese thought, Liu Xian-xin, a great scholar of modern times, deeply analyzes the shortcomings of individualism orientation and society-based orientation and creatively puts forward the thesis of “individual-based socialism” orientation, which can be regarded as a model of carrying forward the tradition and forging ahead into the future to innovate Chinese educational theory. “Individual-based socialism” orientation advocates that individual s the point of the infinite time-space connection, which connects the ancestors and successive generations vertically and the family, the society and the world horizontally. Therefore, education should be based on the self-cultivation of the individual and the society is achieved through this foundation. Society-based orientation and individualism orientation both separate the relationship between individual and society, which is the root of the dispute between individual-based orientation and society-based orientation. Besides, the confusion of concepts also leads to the fallacy of the dispute between individual-based orientation and society-based orientation. Therefore, the selection and establishment of the educational purpose should be based on “Individual-based socialism” orientation.
