英文摘要 During the era of Apartheid, the racial conflict and social segregation existed in South African were significantly attributed to the racialist values education at school. Since the political transform, the new government has promoted the values education on basis of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, aiming at cultivating among the youth the common citizenship with such values as democracy, responsibilities, respect and inclusion of positive racial differences etc. Through corresponding core curricula as well as integrating these values into all curricula and school life, values education in new South Africa by and large contributes to transforming the conflicting and divided society towards a vision of equality and solidarity. However, there still exist several realistic problems threatening the progress above, such as faulty educational contents and approaches, the non-balanced distribution of educational resources in different schools and the lack of standardization of teaching relevant courses.
