As an important field of artificial intelligence in education, affective computing (AC) can enhance learning interactive experience and optimize teaching strategies by mining learning emotions and changing processes. However, the knowledge and understanding of AC is still inadequate in relevant studies, and systematic analysis of its educational applications is lacking. The study adopted a content analysis approach to analyze the theoretical foundation, measurement methods, system development, application scenarios, and practical value. The study pointed out that AC is accelerating the integration of intelligent tutoring systems, online learning platforms, educational games, and other scenarios. The study also provided solutions for the empowered academic prediction, learning interaction, teaching intervention, and teaching evaluation. Future research on AC should promote the integration of emotion and cognition, reconstruct the theoretical foundation of learning, and expand its application boundary and value potential by integrating affective measurement methods and enhancing the system’s embedded capabilities. On this basis, academics should accelerate the integration and innovation of AC in China from the perspectives of theoretical innovation, technology development, practical application, and risk avoidance.
