Introspection under Epidemic Situation: What Education should be in Break through Information Cocoon House
(WANG Nan)
The phenomenon of value tearing frequently occurs during the epidemic period, which is related to the information selection of individual adherence. If the individual is only willing to receive a single information for a long time, it will shackle itself in the “information cocoon house”, resulting in narrow vision, knowledge solidification, rigid mind, seriously hinder the overall development of the individual. For society, it will encourage group blindness and social polarization, resulting in the division of social consensus and the separation of common values. The reasons for the formation of information cocoon house are internal and external, which is related to the thinking stereotype of individuals and the information filtering mechanism of individuals. External is related to information explosion and information surplus and information imbalance or information gap. To break through the information cocoon house, education should make a difference. We should re-understand the connotation of “knowledge”; re-understand the characteristics of “human” ; stick to the value pursuit of truth, goodness and beauty. Education should help people establish the bottom line and boundary of human nature and build a platform for dialogue based on common sense and consensus. Of course, education is only an external factor, and ultimately can only rely on the individual’s own efforts.
