Principles of Gestalism, also called gestalt psychology, includes a series of laws of organization, and [figure-ground] theory is one of them. This paper approaches the Chinese classical poetry translation from the perspective of [figure-ground] theory, mainly in two aspects: words, lines and the whole poem, poem and culture, which corresponds with the figure-ground relationship. It also analyzes that different translators have different understanding of figure and ground, and thus have different translating versions.
