The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development’s (OECD) released a report, Back to the Future of Education: Four OECD Scenarios for schooling in 2020, which describes four scenarios for school education over the next 20 years, namely: schooling extended, education outsourced, schools as learning hubs and learn-as-you-go, the school reflects on the seven kinds of realistic challenges that can be faced in reaching the four scenarios of future education: modernizing and disrupting, new goals and old structures, global and local, innovation and risk avoidance, potential and reality, virtual and face-to-face, learning and education. Based on content and text analysis methods , this article interprets OECD’s report from four dimensions, including the development of future education, the current situation and trends of school education, the four scenarios of OECD’s future education in 2020, and the realistic challenges faced by future school education. In order to stimulate critical and creative thinking on the pluralistic future of education, and preparing adequately for the future development of education, this paper proposed some tips for overcoming the challenges, which contains changing the way of thinking mode to deal with the modern index, changing the old education system to realize the equity of education, promoting independent innovation to achieve localization and globalization, promoting teaching innovation and focusing on risk aversion, developing the technological potential to promote teaching change, utilizing emerging intelligent technologies to achieve blending teaching, promoting lifelong learning to build a learning society.
