中文摘要 在中国大学博雅教育面临挑战的背景下,本文探究如下问题:(1)有效或理想的博雅教育是否应该与时俱进? 如果与时俱进,当代中国及其他地方大学的博雅教育需要结合什么?(2)如何定义当下中国及其他地方大学有效或理想的博雅教育? 运用德文中的Bildung 概念作为指引框架,本文得出结论:当代大学博雅教育需要融入本国及世界的重大社会变革和社会运动,同时植根于一个知识传统。因此,它应该包含三个基本成分:人文教育、认知教育和全球教育。
英文摘要 Situated in the context of challenges facing liberal arts education in Chinese universities, this paper explores: (1) Should an effective or ideal liberal arts education evolve with time and context? If yes, what needs to be taken into account in contemporary time at Chinese universities and elsewhere?(2) How do we define an effective or ideal liberal arts education now at Chinese universities and elsewhere? Employing the German concept of Bildung as a guiding framework, it concludes that a contemporary liberal arts education for universities in China and elsewhere needs to absorb meta changes and movements in society at home and around the world, while rooted in a knowledge tradition. Hence it would comprise three essential elements: humanist education, cognitive education, and global education.
