英文摘要 Western primary education originated in the Greco-Roman Period. At that time, schools provided children with games, sports, music and other activities. In accordance with the nature of children, the school played the role of nurturing and caring. In the Middle Ages, young children chose different types of schools according to their family backgrounds to learn practical languages or knowledge, which promoted the emergence of local language schools and laid the foundation for the development of dual-track education. The monorail school system did not reappear until the United States in the nineteenth century and Europe in the twentieth century. This article firstly explores the historical development of western primary education, introducing the development of western primary education since the Greco-Roman period. Secondly, the paper explains the implementation of western primary education, including the age of enrollment, the purpose of education, and the content of education. Furthermore, it discusses factors such as political system, religious power, private education, and nationalism that affect the development of western primary education. Finally, to conclude the historical development of western primary education and end relevant discussions.
