(XU En-qin)
The teaching of thinking has been and will continue to be of interest within education. Many programs of infusing teaching of thinking in regular curriculum had a positive effect on the teaching of thinking. Marzano, Robert J and his team plan programs for incorporating the teaching of thinking throughout the regular curriculum. Philip Adey, Michael Shayer and their team conducted Cognitive Acceleration program, which aimed to improve the learner’s thinking skills through Science, Math, Technology and other subject education. Carol McGuinness, Robert J. Swartz and their teams use infusion methodology for enhancing children’s thinking skills across the regular curriculum in primary secondary and university education. These programs showed that appropriate problems or tasks are essential, the Guided Inquiry is better than the confirmation and structured inquiry. Socratic dialogue and active discussion are absolutely necessary. Supports and aids for teachers are emphasized. It is showed that many new topics need to be researched further, especially, how to design the appropriate problems for infusing thinking of teaching, how to scaffold the learners, how to make good use of new technologies to promote the infusing teaching of thinking in regular curriculum.
