There are few studies that focus on the relationship between life stress and romantic relationship among graduate students. The main purpose of this study was to understand the relationship between life stress and quality of romantic relationships among graduate students of different genders. The subjects were 300 students enrolled in master's degree programs at public and private universities. The questionnaire contained three sections: graduate student life stress, romantic relationship quality, and basic information, and a canonical correlation was conducted. The results of the study indicated that the canonical correlation between life stress and romantic relationship quality was found to be significant for female graduate students, while the canonical correlation between life stress and quality of romantic relationship was not found for male graduate students. In terms of practical value, female graduate students are one of the groups that need more attention in terms of life stress and romantic relationships in graduate school. It is hoped that the results of this study can be used as a reference for government, educational institutions, universities, researchers, psychologists, and counselors.
