Higher education institutions in Britain are diversified in terms of categories and levels. The great contribution of higher education in British owes to the reform of quality assurance mechanism carried out by the British government. The article tries to outline the development of quality assurance mechanism of higher education in England since the 1990s so as to give some beneficial reference for the improvement of our country's quality assurance mechanism.
