The paper explores the construction of teaching staff in American research university purposefully and investigates some problems such as inbreeding, evaluation index, paying more attention on research than teaching, incentive mechanism and so on during faculty selection, appointment inventiveness and restriction. Moreover, the paper discusses the measures and experience when American research university resolves the above problems.
