過去二十年間，大學排名和排行榜出現於全世界，不僅有來自私人、媒體為主的報導，也有是由專業協會和政府公佈的報告。雖然有時在高等教育內部引發爭議與矛盾，但這些大學學術排名制度扮演日趨重要的角色，並成為在地方、國家和國際上對服務對象提供資訊的工具。在所有現有大學學術排名制度中，有的主要是針對學生及其父母提供資訊的排名制度，也有的是針對大學研究卓越的學術排名制度，因此本文旨在針對大學學術排名的國際現況予以探討並展望未來的可能發展。

| 英文摘要 |
Over the past 20 years, university rankings and league tables have emerged around the world not only from private, media-based sources but also from professional associations and governments. While sometime controversial within higher education, these ranking systems are playing an increasing part in providing information for students and their parents at the local, national, and international levels. Thus this article is aimed to examine the current state of university ranking and to describe its future prospect.
