This article summarizes the experience on developing athletic sports in university of The United States Military Academy at West Point into ten aspects: having pioneers with initiatives to develop athletic sports in university; the president with long-term sports vision to put athletic sports in distinctive position in moral, intellectual and vocational military education; recruiting students with athletic talents; having strong athletic coaches and first class physical education facilities; emphasizing inter-university athletic matches to bring honors and driving power; putting emphasis on group sport items to cultivate group spirit; having standard examination and diathesis assessment of athletic sports; establishing strong physical education culture; having systematic physical education curriculum in university.
