The Association of American Universities（AAU）plays an important role in obtaining research funding for American universities, providing assistance in making national science and technology policy and solving problems concerning intellectual property. AAU also actively promotes dialogue between the university and the government in the USA with the goal to tackle the common challenges face by all American universities.
