The paper introduces and analyzes the basic structure and contents of the curriculum standards for social studies in America. It includes the target orientation of the social studies, the integrated curriculum design related to the ten main topics and the effective teaching. The paper expounds the inspiration on the whole construction of the social studies curriculum, civic education system, as well as the effective implementation of curriculum standards in teaching in our country.
