在科学发展观的指导下，统筹东、中、西部地区各类高等教育的发展，是我国高等教育发展的战略目标。本文对东、中、西部地区高等教育办学类型及其规模进行了初歩的宏观分析，有利于提高对我国高等教育发展的宏观把握，深化对统筹各类高等教育发展的认识。

| 英文摘要 |
The strategic goal, as guided as scientific development ideas, is to form a general plan with different kinds of higher education developing in Western, Central, and Eastern China. This article makes a primary macro─analysis about the scope and categories of higher education in Western, Central, and Eastern areas, which help to generalize the overall view about the development of Chinese higher education and the further reorganization about the different kinds of higher education developments within the general plan.
