| 英文摘要 |
Sabbatical leave has been an important part in American faculty development program. It came up with the pressure for the internationalization of faculty as a result of the establishment of American research universities in the end of 19 century. Sabbatical leave can be powerful stimuli for faculty to improve their performance, to develop their teaching expertise, and can be seen as a favor for loyal service to the faculty's university. This paper reviews the history, value, mission and procedure of sabbatical leave. It also discusses the disputed narratives and positive research of sabbatical leave program.
