Higher education reforms have brought remarkable changes to Chinese universities. After the implementation of these reforms and enrollment expansion, it is important to build a new Marxist framework to reconceptualise the nature and function of scholarship. It is imperative to build a new framework of modern scholarship to guide Chinese higher education into a new stage of development.
