The First East─Asian International Symposium on Teacher Education Research, which was held in Tokyo, Japan, focused on the topic of “educational reform and professional development of teachers”, and discussed such questions as the modeling of “the Asian─type teacher”, the preparation of pre─service teachers, the development of pre─service teacher’s professional quality and teacher professional development within the field of teacher education. Scholars, based on the same culture value of East─Asia, proposed some helpful views about the above questions.
