During the Period of the Republic of China, Comprehensive universities’ contribution to teacher education bears four characteristics: first, teacher education took place in education/department and teachers college/department had different emphasis on the goal of running their institution; third, the system of major and minor subjects, and the system of volunteering teacher students broadened the source of students to be teachers and increased students’ employment opportunity; fourth, the diversified courses in education department enhanced the training of students’ educational knowledge, meanwhile, it provided possibility for education departments/colleges to realize their multiple functions.
