Johann Friedrich Herbart considered ethnics as a way of illustrating educational goals. This paper concentrates on the latest publication of “Corpus of Johann Friedrich Herbart”, tries to probe further into Herbart’s thoughts on pedagogy and ethnics in the aspects of his basic method for education research, the ethnics foundation of pedagogy and educative instruction, etc., and reflects on their significance in the modern time.
