中文摘要 基於校長對學校任務的解讀對其行動具影響力的考量,本文採個案研究法,分析一位個案國中校長對於「學生學習」這項核心任務之績效責任的看法、運用,及其與校長領導作為的可能關聯。以文獻整理所得的內、外部不同績效責任類別(包括科層體制的、法定的、專業的、政治的、道德的、市場的績效責任),分析校長所提供的訪談資料。本文發現:一、個案國中校長所解讀的學生學習實質內涵仍偏重學生學業成就;二、個案國中校長對學生學習績效責任的解讀比較偏向外部績效責任類型(市場的、科層體制的、政治的績效責任),以及少許的內、外部績效責任(專業績效責任);三、有關法定的績效責任幾乎與科層體制的績效責任混合;四、道德的績效責任較少被提及,其原因值得深入探究;五、個案國中校長試圖透過強調專業績效責任,以減低政治的、市場的績效責任所加諸之提升學生學業成就的壓力;六、個案國中校長試圖透過市場壓力、政治壓力,以及專業社群壓力,提升學校成員負起學生學習績效責任的意識;七、個案國中校長認為其對績效責任的解讀會影響其領導作為。最後,研究者建議校長宜更全面看待學生學習,且兼重個體學生表現與全體學生表現,以及多以專業與道德績效責任解讀學生學習的責任。
英文摘要 Base on the observation that how principals interpret the task of schooling influenceing their actions, this paper analyzed ways that a secondary principal interpreted the various accountabilities to improve student learning. Utilizing the method of case study, this paper interviewed an urban secondary principal with regard to his interpretations on the accountabilities to improve student learning and the possible relationships between these interpretations and his actions. There were several findings to this study. First, the principal indicated that student academic achievement is the core to the accountabilities to student learning. Second, the case secondary school principal interpreted the accountabilities to student learning more on external accountabilities (market, bureaucratic and political accountabilities), and less on internal/ external accountabilities (professional and moral accountabilities). The principal mixed the legal accountability with the bureaucratic accountability. Third, the principal used the market, political, and professional pressures of improving student academic performance to be stimulants to their teachers for taking care of the accountabilities to student learning. The principal also tried to reduce the political and market accountabilities via professional measures. Several suggestions to principal leadership were provided by this study.
