「学为人师，行为世范」是北京师范大学的校训。这一校训在当今社会之所以有着巨大的影响和旺盛的生命力，最根本的原因是因为它植根于中国传统教育的沃土，有着2500年丰厚的养料提滋养。作为北京师范大学校训灵魂的学与行，是传统师德的核心内容。「学为人师，行为世范」的传统由「至圣先师」孔子所开创，为一代又一代教师所追求和践行，也为全社会守望和期盼。

| 英文摘要 |
“Learn to be an Excellent Teacher; Act as an Exemplary Person” is BNU’s motto. The fundamental reason why it has huge influence and great vitality in the modern society is that the motto has been rooted in the fertile soil of Chinese traditional education and absorbed great nourishment during past 2,500 years. Learning and behaving, as the spirit of BNU’s school motto, is the kernel of traditional teacher’s morality. The tradition of “Learn to be an Excellent Teacher; Act as an Exemplary Person” was established by the great sage, Confucius, then was pursued and practiced by teachers from generation to generation and also been kept watch and looked forwarded to by the whole society.
