Self-designed questionnaires were distributed to students of Grade 1, 3, 5, 8 and 11 in four areas of China, i. e. Beijing, Shanxi, Sichuan, Ao’men respectively to make a survey on their homework, daily schedules and extracurricular activities of one week. The result indicates that students are overloaded with homework; the homework type is single, that is, the kind of homework to enhance students’ knowledge by memorizing and reciting; the homework mainly focuses on core subjects, while there is little homework of other subjects; student slack of sleep seriously; secondary school students stay at school for a long time everyday, which is far longer than that is prescribed by the government agency; extracurricular activities are lack of diversity and are not properly arranged in terms of time and there is relatively little time for outdoor activities; the time a student spending on homework or extracurricular activities varies with the area, school type and grade, while it has nothing to do with the gender.
