A survey, which involves 162 elementary and secondary school teachers' responses to questionnaires about their views on the assessment standards of a good classroom instruction in West China, shows that: the teaching conception advocated by the new curriculum are partly embodied in the assessment standards; there is a gap between teachers' ideal and real assessment standards; the assessment standard of a class has certain structure, including five dimensions, i.e. being good at instruction, designing environment, motivating students, applying methods and choosing objectives; grade, subject, gender and age have no significant influence on teachers’ assessment standards of class instruction.
