中文摘要 通识教育与专业教育的关系是国际高等教育界探讨的一个重要课题,在我国不论是理论界还是实践界对这一关系的探讨和实践尚不成熟。本文将北京大学元培计划作为案例,对这一关系进行分析。文章首先了解了元培计划为实施通识教育而采取的制度性安排及其实施效果;然后考察了元培计划处理通识教育与专业教育关系的一些提法和做法;最后,针对有关改进建议,分析了现阶段我国综合性研究型大学实施通识教育的各重困境,指出在我国实施通识教育仍任重而道远。
英文摘要 The relationship between general education and specialty education has been an important issue in world higher education, and it has not been fully discussed or implemented either in theory or practice in China. This paper first introduces the new strategies adopted by the Yuanpei Program of Peking University in its implementation of general education and the impact of these strategies. The paper then examines the strategies of Yuanpei Program in dealing with the relationship between general education and specialty education. Finally, relevant reform suggestions are analyzed to highlight the major constraints in the implementation of general education in comprehensive research universities, which indicates that conditions are not fully ripe for an effective general education in China today.
