中外合作办学成了高等教育国际化的一个重要组成部分，这已经是无庸置疑的了。南京大学与美国霍普金斯大学在两国政府的支持下共同建立起来的合作办学项目─中美文化研究中心已经走过了这17年的历程，作为一个比较早的中外合作办学项目，它在中美两国的影响正在不断扩大。文章从建立的历史背景、办学特色、办学中存在的问题以及其大致状况等各个方面对其进行了介绍和研究，以图对中国的其它合作办学有所借凿。

| 英文摘要 |
It is undoubted that joint institution has become an important part of higher education international ization. As one of Sino-foreign joint institutions built early, the Center for Chinese and American Studies, which is established by Nanjing University and Hopkins University 17 years ago is extending its influence between China and the United States. The paper introduces and studies the Center from the historical background, schooling features and problems existed so as to provide some experience for the other joint programs in China.
