Facing the reform pressure from all sides, various reform proposals have been put forward for the tenure system in American colleges and universities. Some of these reforms have already been implemented in American’s diversified higher education system. However, these reforms did not change the essence of the tenure system. It is still the most effective mechanism for faculty selection and reward in American higher education.
