| 英文摘要 |
Along with the development of socialist market economy in China, reforms in financing Chinese higher education took place. Before 1978, higher education institutions received their funding almost exclusively from government appropriation, which has been substituted by the new funding mechanisms through which higher education institutions generate income from various sources. These reforms reflected the requirements of the development of socialist market economy. It is argued that diversification of funding sources in higher education not only has its theoretical foundation, but also has its necessity and feasibility at present in China.
