清末废科举是20世纪中国高等教育的重大转折。百年回眸，既要看到这一考试制度变革的历史必然性和进步性，也不应忽视其负面影响。作为传统高等教育形态，科举制早已退出了历史舞台；作为一种文化精神，其合理内核则为当今各类考试制度所借鉴。将当今某些教育考试的弊端一概斥之为”科举制的复活”，显然失之偏颇。

| 英文摘要 |
Abolition of imperial examinations in the late Qing Dynasty was the great turning point of Chinese higher education in the 20th century. Looking back on these 100 years, not only shall we know the historical necessity and progress of this change, but also should not ignore its negative effect. The imperial examination system as the traditional higher education from, has already withdrawn from the historical stage. As a kind of cultural spirit, however, its rational kernel can be consulted by all kinds of examination system nowadays. It is unfair to upbraid the drawback of some educational examination without excepti8on as “the revival of the imperial examination system”.
