中美研究型大学校长在任期上存在明显差别，原因在于两国大学的自治传统、校长产生方式和内部领导体制等方面。研究表明，较长的校长任期是大学可持续发展的重要保障。因此，应延长我国大学校长任期，改革校长产生方式并完善大学内部领导体制。

| 英文摘要 |
There is notable difference in president tenure of research university between China and USA. The reasons lie in the dissimilarities in autonomous tradition, president generating system and internal administration system between universities of the two countries. The American experiences have suggested a longer term of university presidents from the view of sustainable development of universities. Therefore, it is very necessary for our universities to extend president tenure, reform president generating system and improve internal administration university systems.
