It is very important to implement interdisciplinary research to facilitate the development of modern science and technology. The establishment of interdisciplinary research centers in the American research universities is a prompt reaction to this trend. As an institutional innovation, theses centers encourage knowledge innovation. Also, these centers make great efforts on the development of the university creativity. The article analyzes the role of interdisciplinary research centers in facilitating the development of the university creativity from the point view of institutional innovation.
