The reason of the transition from teachers colleges to universities in post-second world war America and how American universities conduct teacher education are explored in the paper. The paper also has such arguments that the quality improvement is the perpetual theme of teacher education; the integration of teacher education into the university is the inevitable trend; the normality is the core competitive power of the teachers colleges’ transition; the professionalization of teacher education is the direction of development; the teacher’s qualification certificate system and the raising of the teacher’s status is the fundamental guarantee of the transition.
