学生社团在不同的历史时期担负着不同的使命。在政局动荡的年代，在国难当头的危急时刻，学生社团的主要使命在于关注国家前途命运、干预政治和发展兴趣，在民主、和平的现代社会里，弘扬兴趣、彰显个性，了解社会、服务社会成了学生社团的主要使命和任务；在构建社会主义和谐的新的历史时期，培育创新人才和传导社会和谐文化的使命又历史地落在学生社团的肩上。学生社团的主要旨趣与社会发展紧密相关，但是，为中华民族的振兴、为中华民族的现代化发展是其亘古不变的天职和使命。

| 英文摘要 |
The student organization has different missions in different historical periods. In a democratic and peaceful modern society its main task is to develop various interests, highlight individuality, learn society and serve society. In the new historical period of building socialist harmony, its mission is to cultivate innovative talents and diffuse harmonious culture. The student organization’s mission is closely related to social developments.
