始于2004年的美国文凭项目(简称ADP)旨在提高美国高中毕业生的质量，从当今社会对高中毕业生的实际期望出发，制定出毕业生在升学和就业两方面的必备知识和能力基准。2009年ADP更新了标准。本文主要探究更新后的ADP英语基准，从ADP项目实施的背景、英语基准的内容及其特点方面进行分析，希望能够引发教育者对我国高中毕业生素质的思考。

The American Diploma Project (ADP), which was launched in 2004, aims to improve the standards of high school graduates, making them meet the expectations of both employers’ and college faculty’s, so as to gain success either in college study or in their workplace. The main task of ADP is to create an advanced benchmarks in English and mathematics that ensure the graduates necessary knowledge and skills needed in both areas. This article mainly analysis the ADP English benchmarks, including the background information and the main content of the benchmarks, together with its characteristics, hoping we should get some implication from the benchmarks.
