| 英文摘要 |
After presenting a brief history of the development of nondepartmentalization of American elementary school, this paper discusses the effects of nondepartmentalization on American elementary mathematics education. The advantages include knowing students on a deep level, a personalized teacher/student relation, and integration among different subjects. Drawbacks include lacking specialized training, slighting one or several disliked subjects, and lacking time for lesson preparation. A relation between American students’ skills in mathematics and nondepartmentalization is suggested for future research.
